Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A sweet little story (if sweet can be appended to a book in which several protagonists are demons). I enjoyed the banter between the characters; it's obvious that some of the main characters will be getting their own spin-offs in the future.
Although the writing needed some serious editing (knowing how to spell words doesn't mean they're being used in the correct context - e.g. 'culminate' instead of 'ruminate'), the story sped along quite nicely.
Initially i thought Analia/Anya was just a little wimp and I was prepared to sigh at the thought of yet another Barbara Cartland-style heroine. However, she turned into quite the little kick-ass fighter. Could have done without the angst, but I suppose it was necessary to the development of the characters. The sex scenes were also quite sweet (there's that word again!), albeit hot.
My favourite aspect of this book was the little world Kiersten Fay created. Being on the ship felt like a larger version of Serenity, and the variety of aliens on board was quite satisfying (although all of them were humanoid). There was a sense of security and family, which I really enjoyed.
Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
