Pigpen

I seriously need to get back to Hogsback for some downtime. It's a village in the Amatola mountains of the Eastern Cape, and the place where Tolkien's nanny was raised. Which would explain some of the scenery of Middle Earth (or so Hogsbackians like to think).

It certainly has a Lord of the Rings feel to it (of course that might just be because all and sundry have LotR-type names for their shops, houses, restaurants, etc). Although Tolkien does vie with the oinksters in terms of names - our favourite pub, for instance, is the Hog and Hornbill and there are myriad other examples of hog fascination popping up all over town.

Anyway, I won't go into too much detail about Hogsback here - that's for another day. I just wish I could be there, with the soughing of the wind in the trees (isn't that a lovely word? Soughing.), the random streamlets trickling down the mountains, the waterfalls, the endless views ...

... and the five bars in a community of 250.

Yeah. That's the best part.
